３月９日から１３日まで、テキサス州オースティンのSXSW映画祭に出席しました。氷点下のNYから、いきなり摂氏２６度の夏のような街！改めて、アメリカとは広いもんだと実感しました。いやー、それにしてもこの映画祭はアメリカンじゃ〜。ノリがめちゃ明るくて元気。オースティンは夜の街も物凄い賑わい。楽しいです。
From March 9th to 13th, we attended SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. When we left New York, the temperature was about 32F, but a few hours later in Austin, it was 80F! America is certainly a big country. And this festival is so American! Everything is casual, optimistic, and relaxed. It's also a party town. We had so much fun.
SXSWはとにかくパーティーが多い！１日に何件招待状がくるか分からないくらい。もちろんパーティーは楽しいものですが、新しい人と出会ってビジネスを広げるのが目的でもあります。楽しんでばかりもいられませぬ。
There were so many parties at SXSW! I don't know how many invitations I've got. Parties are fun, but at the same time, they are places where I should meet new people and talk about business.

今回はパネル・ディスカッションにも参加しました。議題は「政治的ドキュメンタリー」。
I participated a panel discussion entitled "Political Documentary."
カナダの映画批評家、ジェニーさんにインタビューされる。「選挙」をとても気に入ってくれて、「HOT DOCSに来たときはトロントを案内するわ」と言ってくれた。ホントにホント？
Jennie, a journalist from Canada did an interview with me. She really liked CAMPAIGN, and said "I'm going to show you around when you come to Toronto to attend Hot Docs."
Austin Movie Showというテレビ番組に出演。ホスト役のジェイガーさんとは話が弾んだなあ。
I also participated a local TV show called "Austin Movie Show." Its host Jegar was really cool.
南アフリカ在住の批評家・サラさんは、「選挙」を本質的に理解してくれた人のひとり。こういう人に会うと、この映画を撮って良かったなあと心底思う。
A critic from Cape Town, Sarah, was one of the person who really understood and appreciated CAMPAIGN and my intention. Her in-depth interview made me feel that it was worth making this movie.

We filmmakers enjoyed free 15 minute massage services everyday! This was incredibale. Such a great idea. So Austin, in a sense.
